The Unbearable Lightness of Being ||| Milan Fashion Week - The Photographs

Ok, I don’t like Kundera at all, but the title sounds nice. No particular reason to use it whatsoever.

I’m listening to Mozart’s Symphony No.40, having a smoke. Feeling good. Yesterday evening I went again to Jazz & Adrianna’s place (btw, they just started a blog, check it out here) with Hrisi and Martin… Then we went to some guy’s place and ended up having a spicy doner kebap around 2am, which wasn’t that good of an idea. Anyway, now that the hangover is over and after a great afternoon spent with Silvia (yep, the most beautiful woman in the known universe) and Dido, I started to organize the backstage photographs I took during the Fashion Week. Yes, ladies and gentleman, I am officially back from the land of the short artsy hairless fags and frustratingly tall and anorexic women, e.g. the fashion shows. I brough my camera with me to some of the shows (something that I usually never do) and using my irresistable charm (and connections) I managed to sneak in the heavily guarded backstages. I am having really mixed feelings about the whole thing but I will write a whole article on that later. For now, I will share with you some almost randomly picked up photographs. The idea was to put together a reportage on the caos that reigns in the backstage of the shows, but that’s rarely shown to the outside world, since the hyena-like “photographers” that go there are usually concerned with busting the models’ balls, pulling and pushing them around trying to take a decent shot (in pretty impossible conditions) of a top-model that they couldn’t otherwise put their hands on. Pathetic. You should always respect the subject that you are taking pictures of and do your best not to be invasive in any way. I felt disgusted. Anyhow, the photographs have not been edited in any way (one is slightly cropped, though), batch converted in Adobe Camera Raw. I’ve never done this before, publishing raw material. They are all taken handheld with my 5d and beloved 16-35/2.8II at 800 ASA, almost exclusively at f2.8.
